Why does someone participate in an election if he's sure that he's going to lose???
Salient feature of a typical SRite is his/her "proud" apolitical nature. I'm not at all surprised that no elections are going to happen this year. For the past few years SRCC SU election campaigns were only done by focusing on personal relationships rather than discussing student issues. We cannot expect much from a corporate factory where presidential debates are about who cleaned the auditorium during the fest. It is a fact that those who've Hostel votes and South Indian votes can win SRCC elections. South Indian people do get enough representation in the Students Union. But the way some "Annans" and "Chettans" treat their juniors like their puppets is unbearable. Everyone has his/her own political rights and space. Simply suppressing their ability to resist the norms in the name of "regional unity" and cultural integrity is very undemocratic. No panel can be completely correct. Absence of elections will cost the opportunity to oppose and resist and ultimately diminish the complete benefits for the college.

Who is at fault?
Try asking a new professor in your college if teaching was their first preference. It is certain that majority of the answers will comprise of a "no". The important question is, why was the answer 'no' so certain?
After schooling, it is seldom that professor of your college impact your thoughts regarding life drastically. This is true in my case at least. Even more true when you are pursuing a degree in a subject "which doesn't need to be taught " (according to a learned professor of the elite course in our campus; yes, from the Economics department).
But at the same time there are few cases when Bcom teachers do show interest and open up to college students. But such instances are very few. Teachers are more uninterested than any other back bencher in class at times. Some teachers indulge in sexist examples to make the class's atmosphere fun learning.
New adhoc teachers especially ones appointed to teach Economics to Bcom students have knowledge but lack the ability to deliver.
There are some exceptional teachers in our campus but I don't know what stops them from teaching at their full potential. Maybe us, maybe the working conditions, maybe the culture of domination of societies over education in DU, or maybe just the lack of enthusiasm due to numerous circumstances. Bcom(h) could have been more fruitful rather than just a course from DU to get placed in a desired company.

I had a mixed variety of teachers. Some of them were finest, had good understanding and made extra efforts to make sure that the students get the complete conceptual knowledge. Some teachers earnestly listened to the students and their requirements at a particular juncture.
Some teachers were not that polished and updated with their knowledge and as a result, weren't able to provide sufficient clarity on topics to the students.
It's more or less, the same traditional teaching methodology that they follow. Use of smarter teaching style could be encouraged which can make the class more engaging and worthwhile to attend.
Some teachers do make discouraging comments about few educational boards and the students who come from there, which I felt shouldn't be the case. There's a sort of discrimination here and it doesn't pave way for them to have a comfortable space to express themselves and grow in all aspects.
Most of the teachers use English to teach, as the college have a mix of students from all the parts, but still few teachers are not that well versed with English.
I also had opportunity to learn from teachers who are very much disciplined and had in depth knowledge about their subjects, thus encouraging the students to inculcate the same.

The teachers are well qualified and explain the subject matter quite well. The library serves as an excellent platform for students to connect with the subjects of their choice and develop diverse interests in all matters. More over the fact that SRCC draws the creme de la creme of students from all over the country it provides a good competitive atmosphere which will definitely serve to further your skill sets exponentially.

Assumptions have vital role in Economics and from here I think most of the Economics teachers got their assumption custom. They assume a particular level of knowledge before going to a new topic and only if the student has enough confidence and is good in English may ask about the background of the topic. This makes students especially who are from non elite background to skip classes. Tutorial sessions which are meant for clearing doubts and giving more additional knowledge on the topics have become mere question answer sessions. College classrooms can be the space for discussions and teachers shall initiate those discussions, but here, unfortunately majority of the teachers use them to just complete the given syllabus.
